Buying tires in Pearl without the runaround
Buying tires should take one phone call and one visit. Too often it takes three quotes, a bait price that does not include mounting, and a shop that finds four other things wrong once your car is on the lift.

What a tire quote from us actually includes
When we quote you a price on four tires, that price covers the tire, mounting, balancing, new valve stems or TPMS service kits where needed, and disposal of your old tires. There is no separate line item that appears at the counter.
Here is what happens in the bay:
- Dismount and inspect. We pull the old tire and look at the inside of it. A lot of problems announce themselves there first: belt separation, sidewall bruising from a pothole, or the feathering pattern that tells us your alignment is out.
- Mount and seat. New valve stem or rebuilt TPMS sensor kit, correct bead lubricant, correct seating pressure.
- Balance. Every wheel, every time. An out-of-balance wheel does not just vibrate. It wears the tread in cups and scallops, and it will destroy a $200 tire in 15,000 miles.
- Torque to spec. With a torque wrench, in the right pattern. Over-torqued lug nuts warp brake rotors, and a rattle gun does not know the difference.
- Set pressures to the door jamb, not the sidewall. The number on the sidewall is the maximum the tire can hold. The number on the jamb is what your vehicle is engineered for. Shops get this wrong constantly.
What new tires cost in Pearl

For most passenger cars and small crossovers running a common 15 to 18 inch size, a set of four installed generally lands between $400 and $900 depending on brand and line. Trucks, full-size SUVs and anything running a 20 inch wheel or a heavier load rating generally lands between $700 and $1,600 installed.
The spread inside those ranges is mostly three things:
- Size and load rating. A 275/55R20 with a proper load index for a half-ton truck costs meaningfully more than a 205/55R16 for a sedan, because there is more tire and more construction in it.
- Brand tier. Kelly is the value line, Dunlop sits in the middle, Goodyear is the premium line. The difference over the life of the set is usually tread mileage and wet performance.
- What else the vehicle needs. If your alignment is out, new tires will wear out early and that is money burned. We check it and tell you before you buy, not after.

Picking the right tire instead of the most expensive one
The most useful thing a tire shop can do is talk you out of the wrong purchase. Three questions decide it:
How long are you keeping the vehicle? If the answer is a year, a premium touring tire with an 80,000 mile treadwear rating is money you will never get back. Kelly does that job honestly.
What do you actually do with it? A half-ton that tows a bass boat to the Reservoir on weekends and runs I-20 the rest of the week needs a highway-terrain tire with the right load index. Putting an aggressive mud-terrain on it costs you fuel, road noise and tread life for looks. Conversely, a truck that lives on the gravel county roads out past Brandon will shred a highway tire’s sidewalls.
How much do you drive in the rain? Central Mississippi gets sudden, heavy water. If you commute daily on US-49 or I-20, wet stopping distance is the specification worth paying for, and it is the clearest difference between the value and premium lines.
Why the alignment conversation matters before you buy
New tires on a vehicle with a bad alignment is the most expensive mistake we watch people make. A car pulling half a degree out of spec can scrub a new set down to the cords on one shoulder inside 10,000 to 15,000 miles. You will not feel it until it is too late, because modern power steering hides a pull.
We check alignment as part of the tire conversation. If it is in spec, we tell you so and you save the money. If it is out, we show you the readings. A $100 alignment protecting a $900 set of tires is not an upsell, it is arithmetic.
Potholes are the usual culprit around here. If you commute into Jackson on State Street or the I-55 frontage roads, or you run the broken shoulder stretches of US-80, assume your alignment took a hit at some point.
