Oil changes in Pearl without the upsell theater

You know the routine at a quick-lube. You go in for an oil change and come out having been told your transmission fluid is “burnt,” your air filter is “filthy,” and your engine needs a flush. Half of it was never inspected.

We do it differently, because we are a full repair shop and not a volume oil pit. An oil change here comes with an actual inspection by someone who fixes cars for a living, and we tell you what we found instead of what we can sell.

What is included

  • Oil and filter, the correct grade and specification for your engine, not whatever is in the bulk tank
  • Chassis lubrication where the vehicle has grease fittings
  • All fluid levels checked and topped: coolant, brake, power steering, washer
  • Tire tread depth and pressures set to the door jamb spec
  • Brake inspection through the wheel, and pulled if something looks off
  • Battery test, because a battery that starts fine in August fails the first cold morning
  • Belts, hoses, wipers and air filter looked at and reported

What it costs

Conventional oil: roughly $45 to $70 for most vehicles. Full synthetic: roughly $80 to $120, depending on capacity and filter.

The spread comes down to how many quarts your engine holds and what filter it takes. A four-cylinder sedan taking four and a half quarts is at the bottom. A V8 truck taking eight quarts of synthetic is at the top. Some European and diesel applications require specific certifications and run higher. We will price yours exactly over the phone.

The 3,000 mile myth

The 3,000 mile oil change was reasonable advice in 1985 and it is not reasonable now. Modern oils and modern engines are built to go substantially further, and your owner manual will tell you the real number, usually somewhere between 7,500 and 10,000 miles on full synthetic.

Shops that push 3,000 miles are selling you three oil changes where you needed one.

That said, the manual’s number assumes normal driving, and a lot of local driving is not normal by that definition. Short trips are severe service. If your car mostly goes a few miles at a time around Pearl or Flowood, the engine may never fully reach operating temperature, and moisture and fuel dilution collect in the oil instead of burning off. Same story for a work truck that idles for long stretches, or anything that tows in July heat.

If that is your pattern, shorten the interval. We will tell you honestly whether it applies to you.

Why we check the battery every time

Mississippi heat kills batteries, and it kills them silently. High under-hood temperatures cook the electrolyte and shorten battery life well below what the label promises. A battery weakened all summer will crank fine right up until the first genuinely cold morning in December, when it will not crank at all.

Testing it takes two minutes and it is included. Knowing your battery is at 60 percent in October is a lot cheaper than a tow in January.

What we will not do

We will not sell you an engine flush you do not need. We will not tell you your transmission fluid is bad without pulling and showing it to you. We will not put a “recommended” list on your invoice for services nobody inspected.

If we find something, we will show you the part, explain what happens if you leave it, and quote it separately. Then it is your call, and you can say no and still get your oil change.

Questions we get every week

Oil Change questions

How much is an oil change in Pearl, MS?

Conventional oil changes typically run about $45 to $70, and full synthetic generally runs about $80 to $120 depending on how many quarts your engine takes and the filter. Some European and diesel applications run higher. Call (601) 939-6512 with your vehicle and we will price it exactly.

How often should I change my oil?

Follow the interval in your owner manual, which for most modern vehicles on full synthetic is 7,500 to 10,000 miles. The old 3,000 mile rule is a marketing number, not an engineering one. If you do a lot of short trips or idling, shorten it.

Do I need full synthetic?

If your manufacturer specifies it, yes, and using conventional can void warranty coverage. Many turbocharged and direct-injection engines require it. If your vehicle does not require it, synthetic is still a reasonable choice for longer intervals but it is not mandatory.

Do you check anything else?

Yes, and it is included. We check tire tread and pressures, look at your brakes, test the battery, check belts, hoses, wipers and all fluid levels. We tell you what we find. We do not put a list of scare items on your invoice.

Need oil change in Pearl?

No pressure and no guessing. Call the shop or send the form and we will get back to you the same business day.
